about kathryn..

Hello,

My name is Kathryn Budig. I grew up in both Lawrence, Kansas and in Princeton, New Jersey. I received my BA in English and Drama @ The University of Virginia where I discovered yoga. My acting and new found love of yoga led me to Los Angeles where I completed the YogaWorks teacher training with Chuck Miller and my mentor, Maty Ezraty. I have been strongly influenced by my mentor, Heath House, Jesse Schein, Charles James and Noah Maze.

With a strong background in Ashtanga, I was one of the youngest teachers when put on the schedule at Yogaworks. My goal as a yogi and instructor grew into teaching creative sequences that make arm balances and inversions accessible to everyone in the room. I teach a playful approach to the practice and want every student who passes through my room to learn the importance and ease of laughter.

I have been featured in publications such as Yoga Journal, Yogi Times, LA Metro, E! Entertainment, 'Y Yoga' a documentary film, and am the health expert for Quarterlife.com and yogamates teacher/writer for yogamates.com. I am the co-founder with Jesse Schein of 'Poses for Paws', an organization dedicated towards raising money for animal shelters through yoga. You can experience my class at Yogaworks Santa Monica and online at Yogichocolate.com.

Coming Soon: Monthlyyogadvd.com and Yoga Journal's new DVD "Yoga Therapeutics".

Enjoy getting to know me and my work through this site. I look forward to having you in class!
