Balance means there’s a chance you’ll fall. The odds of crashing and burning are strong and, in a word, human. We all fall sometimes, but true balance belongs to the individuals who are willing to compose themselves and get back on the tightrope.
Balance belongs to the yogi who is unafraid of the fall. You can’t balance a handstand in the middle of the room until you’ve made peace with the possibility that you may fall out of it. The master of any craft has failed more times than the novice has even tried. This realization—that failure is necessary to gain knowledge and growth—frees us from the assumption that failure is terrifying or wrong.
Obstacles are mere puzzles and those that leave us with a sense of failure actually give us the skeleton key to finding balance through success and failure in every genre of our life.
